We are transitioning to sustainable, renewable energy sources and minimal water usage.

Green energy sources100% of the event’s power consumption comes from green energy sources. 40% of this energy is produced in local wind farms, minimizing power distribution losses.Energy efficiencyWe use cutting-edge technology in our heating and air conditioning systems and continuously improve energy efficiency by employing low-consumption LED lighting, sensors for automatic light management and 24/7 real-time energy consumption monitoring. Champion energy efficiency We are encouraging a collective effort to turn off equipment, lighting, air-conditioners, and heaters when they're not in use.Water efficiency We have installed timers on faucets and chemical urinals to significantly reduce water usage, contributing to more sustainable and efficient restroom facilities.

At MWC25 Barcelona, we are prioritising sustainability through innovative and responsible production practices.

Reuse Our temporary features and projects are designed with reusability as a priority.Eco hanging banners The hanging banners have been replaced with 106 eco-friendly, PVC-free versions, significantly minimising the environmental impact of event signage.Donation room – back for MWC25 In collaboration with Barcelona and L’Hospitalet City Councils, we are expanding the Donation Room initiative, accepting a broader range of materials and items to support local communities and reduce waste – to encourage increased participation from exhibitors and internal contributors.Recycling Our lanyards are manufactured from recycled materials and free of plastic or metal pieces for easier recycling.Waste managementWe have increased the use of compostable and recyclable materials and have fixed points to manage multiple waste streams with trained personnel and technology. Onsite patrols monitor waste generation during build-up and tear-down, help avoid waste abandonment and promote waste segregation. Find your nearest recycling pointDigital registration Our event is fully digital for registration and accreditation, minimising paper usage and promoting sustainability.MWC app Our event app helps attendees streamline their onsite event experience including wayfinding, venue catering and transport.Digital exhibition We encourage exhibitors to enhance their digital presence in the app and all our digital touchpoints. We offer e-brochures and content is available via a QR code rather than printing.Stand design We encourage exhibitors to apply environmentally friendly design principles to their stands.PLUS packages  These have been upgraded from limited reusability wood subproducts to 100% reusable construction systems (Aluvision), setting a new standard for sustainable booth design and reducing waste.

We procure food sustainably and minimise waste.

Prioritise sustainabilityWe champion reusable materials and eco-friendly alternatives, working to minimize waste and reduce reliance on single-use items.Avoid and reuse Precise food production calculation, advising clients on optimal quantities. Surplus food and food service materials are donated to local reuse and donation schemes.Waste management We segregate waste across all facilities, compost, adhere to kitchen oil recycling programmes and require all catering providers to donate their surplus.Eat local We offer zero kilometer (KM0) food options at our outlets.Sustainability commitment All our official caterers have a clear commitment to sustainable practices and development, supporting local producers with seasonal and organic sourcing. Local firstWe prioritise sustainability in our event exhibits by manufacturing locally to minimise transportation and utilising local labor.Onsite logisticsWe collaborate with the venue and logistics operators to avoid idling vehicle engines, transitioning to e-vehicles, and fostering efficient unloading and reloading.Sustainable logisticsWe encourage exhibitors to incorporate eco-friendly logistics in contracts, embracing paperless processes and promoting shared materials.

We collaborate with partners to minimise and address emissions.

Sustainable event mobility We suggest people use airlines with carbon footprint offset programmes, and book an economy non-stop flight to Barcelona. For journeys that take four hours or less on the train, we promote switching from air to rail where possible.Free public transport We are amplifying our promotion of public transport and expanding the distribution of free transport passes at key locations throughout the venue, making it easier for attendees to opt for eco-friendly travel solutions. Sustainable accommodation We partner with bnetwork to enhance sustainability, prioritising certified hotels with eco-labels, green energy, proximity to the event venue, and adherence to industry environmental codes.Your carbon footprint We encourage people to switch off lights, entertainment devices and heating/AC when leaving their room for the day.Local staff We encourage exhibitors and sponsors to source crew/staff locally to reduce travel emissions.Eco-conscious accommodationIn partnership with bNetwork, we are highlighting hotels with environmental certifications.
